So I’ve been hearing about CBD…. What is it?
CBD, otherwise known as cannabidiol is one of the most prominent compounds found in a cannabis plant. The most well-known compound, one that you have likely heard of before, is THC. This is the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis (the part that gets you high).
CBD does not get you high, is non-intoxicating and has no psychoactive effects.
Ok…so what does CBD do?
There have been some high-profile studies around what the potential benefits of CBD are – all linked to the fact the human body has what is known as an “Endocannabinoid System”. The functions of the endocannabinoid system include:
- Energy Balance
- Stress response
It is still early days within the industry – therefore not much scientific matieral exists. However independent studies from across the world offer some analysis on impact of CBD:
So CBD is legal in the UK?
Yes! CBD is legal within the UK and EU – and in January 2018 was added as a permitted substance on the professional athletes drugs tests by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and Global Drug Reference Online (GDRO).
What format does CBD come in?
There are hundreds of ways in which to take CBD, including sprays, gummies, vapes, coffee, balms…. the list goes on.
However, we have focussed on high quality CBD oil to begin with, as we believe this is one of the easiest ways to administer, has a faster impact and has quicker absorption rates.
That makes sense – but how do I take CBD Oil?
The easiest way is to drop the oil under the tongue in your mouth and hold it there for up to 2 minutes. This allows faster absorption into the blood stream, as opposed to swallowing it straight away. You can also add oil to food and drink, or even rub directly onto the skin!
How much CBD Oil should I take?
There is no one size fits all - everyone processes CBD differently. We always recommend you start off with a small dose and build up over time until you find what works for you. It is important to be consistent to feel the effects continuously.
How do I work out my dose?
We stock 3 different oil products and estimate there are around 200 drops of oil in each 10ml bottle. That makes the following per drop:
- 5% - 2.5ml of CBD per drop
- 10% - 5ml of CBD per drop
- 10% Full Spectrum – 5ml of CBD per drop
We classify a normal serving as “5 – 10 drops”, meaning a usual dose is likely to be:
- 5% - 12.5 – 25ml
- 10% - 25 – 50ml
We would recommend you start with 5 drops (12.5-25ml) and build up from there.
Is CBD Oil natural?
Yes, our oil is derived 100% from the hemp plant without pesticides and is vegan friendly.
Is it safe to drive after taking CBD?
Our products do not contain any THC (above 0.02%) meaning you will not get high, so yes – you are fine to drive after using CBD.
What is the difference between isolate CBD and full-spectrum CBD?
Cannabis has a complex chemical structure and contains over 100 active cannabinoids aside from CBD. All these terpenes are found in full spectrum CBD, except for THC (below 0.02%). This oil has a more natural taste as it is the full plant which includes natural oils and waxes.
CBD Isolate is just the CBD (extracted using a CO2 extraction process) combined with natural hemp oil – meaning it often has a very clean taste and doesn’t include the other cannabinoids.
Although they are not rated as important as CBD when it comes medical benefits, some of these other cannabinoids have been found to have symptom alleviating qualities as well.
Will CBD oil or products get me high?
Nope – none of our products contain above 0.02% THC meaning you can experience the effects of CBD without losing your head.
